Become an Emotionally Focused Therapist and help couples to transform their relationship: (1) learn to see couple distress from an attachment perspective; (2) discover how to help partners recognize blocks to their relationship security and reprocess their emotional reactions to one another; (3) create and choreograph new emotional interactions that support lasting connection; (4) develop the ability to overcome therapeutic impasses; and (5) experience EFT in action during live consultation sessions with real couples.

The Externship offers 28 contact hours and constitutes the first step to becoming a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist. The program provides multi-modal instruction, including live EFT sessions, theory, clinical techniques, skills training, video review of trainer sessions and experiential exercises. It is designed to give one specialized training in couple therapy, a clear map for intervening with couples to facilitate lasting change, an attachment view of couple distress and the skills to work deeply with emotion.
