My name is Melissa Leilani Devencenzi and I am a Native Hawaiian counseling psychology doctoral student at Springfield College working on my dissertation.  My research focuses on formulating an understanding of the development of Native Hawaiian masculinity (i.e., racial, cultural, and gender identity) for males and its impact on cultural acceptance and well-being. I am writing you to ask for your assistance in contacting individuals who might know of, or fit, the following criteria to be a participant in this study:

    a.     Participants must be Native Hawaiian (any amount)

    b.     Ages 18-26 years old

    c.     Identify as male

I would appreciate your help in forwarding this email to those who are eligible. Participants will be asked to complete an online survey that should take approximately 15 minutes. Participation is completely voluntary and confidential. This study has been approved by Springfield College's IRB.

Below is the link to participate in the study:

Participants can also choose to enter in a $25 Amazon gift card raffle at the end of the survey. Thank you for your time and consideration. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, please contact me at

    Mahalo Nui Loa,

    Melissa Leilani
