    Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS):
An Evidence-Based Adjunct to Therapy for Clients Struggling with Depression

We are excited to share that the Center for Healing & Transformation in Kailua, Oahu is offering FDA-approved Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for individuals struggling with treatment-resistant depression and related conditions. TMS is offered as an adjunctive treatment, and we work collaboratively with referring therapists and psychiatric providers to ensure continuity of care.

TMS can help patients struggling with depression to find relief. Many clients engage deeply in therapy and remain committed to their healing, yet continue to experience persistent depressive symptoms. TMS offers an evidence-based, adjunctive treatment option for clients who have made meaningful efforts in therapy and medication management, but still feel stuck.

    Learn more here: TMS Treatment

TMS is a non-invasive, insurance-covered treatment that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain that regulate mood and emotional balance — helping to “wake up” underactive neural pathways and restore healthy patterns of thought and feeling. TMS integrated alongside ongoing psychotherapy often improves energy, affect, and engagement in therapy sessions.

—One of the largest studies on TMS found that 60% of patients had a significant response to the treatment (greater than 50% reduction of symptoms), and 37% achieved full remission. (Dalhuisen et al., 2022)—

When to Consider a TMS Referral

TMS may be helpful when a client:

-Is engaged in therapy but remains stuck in depressive symptoms
-Has tried multiple medications with limited benefit or intolerable side effects
-Is seeking additional support while continuing with their psychotherapist
-Has Tricare, VA, HMSA, HMSA Quest, or UHA insurance (or are Cash Pay)

Please call or text our Intake Team to schedule a TMS consultation or learn more at (808) 451-3960. Fax Referrals to (808) 451-3961. Mahalo!
